When is an ordinary appeal better than a writ?

Writ & Administrative Law

An ordinary appeal is usually better where the dispute is mainly about factual or legal errors that the statutory appellate body has full power to correct.

Writ jurisdiction is more appropriate where there is a jurisdictional defect, constitutional issue, serious procedural illegality or ineffective ordinary remedy.
