What happens to land when the registered owner dies?

Property & Land Law

Death does not automatically erase the deceased person's land ownership record. The lawful heirs or successors must complete the applicable succession/mutation process to update the land record.

DOLMA's citizen-charter materials expressly contemplate mutation (दाखिल खारेज/नामसारी) on the basis of inheritance, court decisions and other legal evidence.[5]
