What documents are normally needed to sell land?

Property & Land Law

The required documents depend on ownership history and transaction type, but commonly include ownership evidence, identity documents, tax/revenue clearances and documents required by the Land Revenue Office.

Additional documents can be required where land is:

  • jointly owned;
  • inherited;
  • mortgaged;
  • transferred through power of attorney;
  • subject to court judgment;
  • owned by a company or institution.

DOLMA's citizen-charter materials list ownership certificates, citizenship documents and supporting legal evidence for mutation and other land-record events.[5]
