What happens to employees when a business is sold or merged?

Labour & Employment Law

Section 14 generally preserves the employment relationship when ownership of a business or part of it is lawfully transferred, its operation is handed to another person, or businesses merge.

A change in ownership does not by itself automatically terminate existing employment.
