Many civil family disputes can be resolved through agreement or mediation where the subject matter is legally capable of settlement. A settlement involving children must respect their interests, and property arrangements requiring registration should still be completed through the prescribed legal process.
Not every criminal or public-law issue can be privately settled merely because the parties are relatives.
