Section 67 requires pretrial detention in specified serious cases where the immediately available evidence shows the accused appears to have committed the offence or there are reasonable grounds to believe so. This includes offences punishable by life imprisonment and specified Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 offences punishable by more than three years, subject to the full statutory text and exceptions.
