Yes. Section 15 permits an investigating officer, in circumstances where continued custody is unnecessary or inappropriate, to release a person on security, guarantee, responsibility of a suitable person or reporting conditions, subject to the statutory process.
The Code also contains special consideration for certain children, pregnant women, elderly persons and persons requiring particular treatment.
